How to get analog video out?

Postby adamfenn28 » Fri Oct 01, 2010 9:21 am

Has anyone found a way to create an analog video output of of the camtwist? I have a Canopus, which can covered a DV stream into a composite analog signal, but I haven't been able to find anything that can fork a copy of the video to a DV stream for the Canopus. I read about SimpleVideoOut X, which might have done what I needed, but it looks like it doesn't work on current MacOS. Any ideas are appreciated!

I'm using camtwist with ustream to broadcast an event, but would also like to send a video feed to the venue's overhead display. While all this is going on, I'd also like to record the video locally. Right now, I think I can use Quicktime Broadcaster to do that, although I haven't yet tried resolutions higher than 320x240 and I understand that might be an issue. I've read that Final Cut will also record, and I'm hoping I get one or the other (or both) to record at a higher resolution, while I'm broadcasting, and sending an analog output of the feed.

You can use the full screen output option on a secondary video card.

Thanks Steve! I've been reading some posts that talk about a secondary video card and full screen output, but I can't seem to find an option for that in Camtwist. I do have a second display connected to my MacBook Pro. Do I need add another video output card, to get that option to show up? If so, any recommendations for such cards?

Thanks!

Found where it is! viewtopic.php?f=3&t=150&start=0

Now I just need to find something that will let me spit out a composite video signal that will be recognized as a display on this macbook pro. Any suggestions are appreciated.

I found two decent answers. First, the 4:3 solution. A very inexpensive scan converter. For about $30, a GEZ-1000.

The other solution is a much better unit, but also more expensive. It will support 4:3 or 16:9 and it goes for about $200. It's a Atlona AT-PC-AVSCOMP.
