Video OUT via FW

Postby keenimedia » Sat Sep 05, 2009 9:51 am

Not sure if what I want to do is the same thing asked in this post:
viewtopic.php?f=5&t=259

But: could CamTwist send Mac video out on the Firewire (400 or 800) port? I saw that there was a programme called Center Stage a few years back and that FCP can do it, but not in a way that is very usable.

If CamTwist worked with something like ProVideoPlayer then a sequence of video assets could be set up and triggered in PVP to go out through CamTwist via FW to an external video switcher such as the Datavideo SE-800DV as another input source.

Hope that makes sense! Sorry I am not a programmer but wondered if this was possible.

It's certainly possible in theory but the biggest hurdle is time. I simply don't have enough at the moment. I assume you're talking about DV video?

Yes, I am talking about DV video.

It amazes me that some company hasn't thrown gobs of money at you for this -- there's nothing else quite like CamTwist, it is supported by so many services. It's a Mac essential! :)

While this would be nice, the main thing I am hoping for right now is getting things back working solidly on SnowLeo.

Thanks for all your work.
